Environment
Situated within the Ozark landscape, on the side of a mountain, the residency provides an intimate look at the natural world surrounding it. Walks through the woods and a hike to the summit can reveal a lot. We encourage artists who stay to explore the landscape. The setting provides opportunities for observation, research, and reflection while remaining close to the cultural resources and amenities of Northwest Arkansas. Well suited for artists whose practices benefit from focused periods of solitude, location-based research, writing, drawing, moving image, object making, or experimental forms of making.
The Mountain is home to a number of cats. All are friendly and vaccinated. There are two cats that live indoors, three outdoors. If allergies are an issue, please consider this. In addition to the mountain cats there's a group of hens producing fresh eggs daily and a variety of wildlife deer, raccoons, possums, snakes and the rare coyote and bobcat. Although these animals pose no danger, we ask that you use best practices when living in near proximity to these animals.
Public Programing
Each residency concludes with a public-facing event that provides an opportunity to share work, research, or ideas developed during the stay. The output is determined by the resident and details finalized in collaboration with the hosts.
